The Fra Amici - ALPS (Ascolto Leggo Parlo Scrivo) Italian Resources for Teachers are a comprehensive set of Italian multi-level resources comprising TWO sets of Audio and Text Teaching Resources.

The first set - FRA AMICI Course - is designed for students at Beginner to Intermediate Levels – Years 7-11.

The second set - FRA AMICI 2 Course - is designed for students at Intermediate to Advanced Levels – Years 10-12.

Each set is accompanied by Teachers' Resources, providing additional flexible tools that are not in the Coursebooks. Some of these can be used for assessment purposes.

How can Fra Amici be used successfully in schools?

Teachers can access valuable resources by utilising the Fra Amici – ALPS Italian Resources for Teachers, which have been specifically designed for use in secondary schools.

Some schools use a combination of the Fra Amici Coursebook as a textbook for students and the ALPS Copymasters and CDs as the source of supplementary activities. This has the added benefit of cutting down on photocopying.

What is in the Coursebook?

It is a substantial resource: A5 in size, 404 pages, plus 18 pages of full colour photographs and maps. It comprises 11 Communication Units, 3 Reference Units and 11 Language Study Units.

What is the content of the Copymasters?

The ALPS Copymasters contain many valuable resources:
  • Comprehension passages with questions in English and Italian (text and audio)
  • Conversational activities, starting with easy guided conversations and progressing to more creative use of language
  • Interesting information about Italy and Italian culture
  • Games, crosswords and cartoons
  • Authentic receipts, tickets, etc.
  • Authentic Italian recipes

UN VIAGGIO IN ITALIA Copymaster has a large range of cultural resource sheets and quizzes about Italy, the geography of Italy, and aspects of Italian life and culture, full-colour and outline maps, easy crossword puzzles on everyday and travel topics and on Italian towns, regions and geography of Italy.

HOW ITALIAN WORKS 1 is a Grammar Guide and Language Study Workbook with clear explanations, grammar charts and worksheets which Teachers can use to explore aspects of Italian grammar and language structure with their students.
